What is ECHO OBN?

ECHO Ontario Bariatric Network is a virtual, case-based education program, fully funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health, that connects healthcare professionals with experts from Ontario’s Bariatric Centres of Excellence to strengthen obesity and bariatric care across the province.

The program provides practical guidance for managing complex obesity and post-bariatric patients through real-case discussions with specialists and peers.

Discussing real patient cases mirrors everyday practice and allows participants to learn practical approaches through shared problem-solving.

Topics include pre- and post-bariatric care, nutrition and deficiencies, weight regain, obesity medications, mental health considerations, complications, and referral pathways.

Family physicians, specialist physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, administrators, and other professionals involved in obesity care.

The program now features shorter sessions, a consistent schedule, and a stronger focus on practical case discussion.

CME credits are earned by attending the live virtual sessions. Participants are expected to attend a majority of the sessions to attain the credit.
